Our School’s Philosophy

We believe in nurturing the whole child by developing our students’ moral, aesthetic, physical, intellectual, emotional and social domains (MA PIES) to the fullest. In other words, Education@Keming is intended to develop character, social and emotional skills, build a foundation in literacy, numeracy and scientific skills, and equip our students with the 21st Century skills (including both life skills and learning skills); thus preparing students for future education, employment and life. The 21st Century Skills are as follows: (1) Self-Awareness Skills, (2) Self-Management Skills, (3) Social Awareness Skills, (4) Relationship Management Skills, (5) Responsible Decision-Making, (6) Literacy, Numeracy & Scientific Skills, (7) Communication Skills, (8) Information & Technology Skills, (9) Thinking Skills & Creativity, and (10) Psychomotor Skills.

To achieve this, we need to

(1) build staff capacity and enhance staff well-being morale,
(2) develop organisation excellence, and
(3) collaborate with the home and the community.

Enlightened Students:

Our students are to be equipped with knowledge, skills and values to become enlightened students who are:

(1) morally upright, (2) aesthetically aware, (3) physically robust, (4) intellectually nimble, (5) emotionally adept and (6) socially responsible.

Enriched Citizens:

Our students strive to “Do the Right Thing” and “Give of their Best” so that they can take action to grow self, others and the environment. Ultimately they glow as enriched citizens who are good and useful citizens; always staying rooted and making positive contributions to Singapore.

1.      To provide comprehensive curricular and co-curricular programmes so as to enhance the development of the moral, aesthetic, physical, intellectual, emotional and social domains of every student.

2.      To develop character through the inculcation of knowledge, skills and values in the curricular and co-curricular programmes. This is done by teaching and allowing students to demonstrate school values such as respect, responsible and care through our Value Education (CME) and Citizenship Education (e.g. Community Involvement Programme, NE and Internationalisation and the development and application of social, emotional and leadership skills through our Pastoral Care Programme, Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Programme, Student Leadership Programme and National Education (NE) Programme.

3.      To integrate National Education (NE) values and messages into the curricular and co-curricular programmes so as to instil in students a sense of belonging and rootedness to Singapore (national identity), and foster social cohesion amongst the different races.

4.      To build a foundation in literacy, numeracy and scientific skills, and to equip the students with the 21st Century Skills such as information and technology, communication, and thinking skills and creativity in order to prepare them for further education and future employment.

5.      To create opportunities for students to develop their command of the English Language through effective speaking, listening, reading, writing and thinking.

6.      To promote the effective learning of the Mother Tongue Languages so as to preserve our distinct culture and practices as well as to inculcate moral values in our students.

7.      To adopt the Holistic Health Framework and Sports Education Programme@Keming as a means to promote healthy lifestyle and sports excellence.

8.      To promote aesthetics awareness and talents in the arts through the Arts4All@Keming Programme.

9.      To equip the students with the 21st Century skills and provide platforms and opportunities for experimentation, exploration and innovation; thus preparing students to face the challenges in the new globalised economy.

10.   To develop the full potential of teachers and Executive and Administrative Service (EAS) officers so as to create a vibrant learning environment and a culture of care and work-life balance.
